getting a couple of rain falls, this year's edition of the Bob Young Invitational
went the way it's suppose to!!! Returning for a 2nd year to where
this young man was first introduce to golf many years ago, Jordan
Crampton from London, managed to win another title of the prestigious
A struggling start on the part of Robichaud (Al) and Hince, kind of sealed it: after 6 holes, Hince was 3-over par, while Alain was doing ok at 1-over, but Jordan turned it on when he was 2-under par until a double bogey on hole #8. By the end of the first 9, the lead was up to 4 shots and 6 shots over Robichaud and Hince. André Robichaud had followed Crampton with the same 37 score.
The back nine was just as good for Jordan, but worse for his chasers, Al Robichaud's faith was sealed when he made an 8 on the par-5 #13, which is usually a birdie hole for these guys. On the other hand, Hince had lost his touch making only 1 par on the first 5 holes.
Crampton's only flaw was a double bogey on hole #16 (par-3) but birdies on #15 and #17, gave him a solid 36, a 5-shot lead on André Robichaud and his second consecutive title.
The field this year was good at 120 players, with 51 out-of-towners participating in one of the rare medal play 36-hole events in the North; with most clubs going to the 2-man format, the Kap Golf Club has promoted their event to be one of the best organized events in the Northern Ontario region.
Many thanks to all participants, our sponsors, volunteers and staff for another successful event, next year's will be the 15th edition of the tournament, dedicated to Golf Professional Bob Young who passed away in 1998.
