Yet another Office Pro sponsored hole, the 2nd this year.

August 16th, 2011

After a while, it was a matter of time when Julie and Mike Grandmont would not come out on top at the annual Adam & Eve Tournament, sponsored by Fortier Beverages.  Playing among a field of 126 golfers and great weather, last year's champ made a run for it, but finally relinquished their title to the Madden family.  Missing out on last year's event, Jeff and Shelby Madden had played here before but had not managed to win.

The Maddens came out strong, posting the lowest score on Saturday, a 6-under par 66.  But the duo of Monique and Luc Bouchard were up to the challenge posting an excellent 67 (5-under par).  Which meant that the 2 teams would battle it out on Sunday, in the last grouping of the day.

The Bouchard's had it down to 1-under on the last day, despite bogeying hole # 1, they battled back by getting birdies on holes 5 & 6, but then they hit a hurdle, with a double bogey on 7, followed by 2 bogeys on  8 and 9, that set them back trailing the leaders by 6 shots.  The Madden's avoided bogeys, the best they could, and despite making one on hole # 7, managed 3 birdies to shoot a 2-under 34.

The Grandmont's were 3 shot behind the leaders to start the day and kept up with them by posting a 34 as well.  They tried their best to catch them, but a bogey-6 on the 15th hole was the difference, as the Madden's needed no more than a bogey-4 on the last hole to claim the title and win by 1 shot over the 4 consecutive winners of the event.  This year's event, just like the Bob Young tournament was blessed with good conditions, no rain and a lot of sun.  Sunday's lowest round was shot by Mitch Guindon and Tammy Muise, who came in with a 4-under back-9, to finish with a 66 and win their flight as well.  Not only did they do well out on the course but they also were fortunate, since their names were drawn to win the famous: "Paid entry fee for the following year" prize, given out by the Kapuskasing Golf Club for the last 3 years now.

Golfers were treated to a great dinner on Saturday and the planned Sunday breakfast was turned into a lunch BBQ because of the scheduled power outage from 6 to noon.

Pichette makes his first!!

Early in the afternoon draw, Claude Pichette made his first hole in 1.  The #9 hole was sponsored by Office Pro for yet another $2500 in merchandise.  If you remember Mathieu Bouchard made his hole in 1 during the Bob Young Invitational on July 3rd.

This time, Claude used a 7 wood from approximately 160 yards, and it pretty well made his day as the Pichette's had their hands full fighting off good teams in a tight race in the first flight.  Unfortunately they finished out of the top 3 but nevertheless were satisfied with their final result.

A big Thank you to all participants and sponsors for their continuous support.
This year was the first for Fortier Beverages Ltd as the main sponsor of the event.

Final results are listed below.
